The house is located just a two-minute walk from the picturesque village of Volax (or Volakas) in the centre of the island, making it an ideal base for exploring Tinos. What makes the location so unique is the fact that the entire surrounding area is strewn with enormous granite boulders, creating a surreal other-worldly landscape that exudes an almost palpable energy. Famous for its long basket-weaving tradition, the lively village has two excellent tavernas, cafes, artisan workshops, a folklore museum, fascinating old churches, and an eye-catching amphitheatre that hosts summer performances.
Some food items are available in Volax, as well as in Falatados (10 min. drive). Falatados also has a bakery, pharmacy, petrol station and – just outside the village – there are two wineries which welcome visitors for tastings in summer. When guests are not chilling at the house or in one of the nearby villages, there are plenty of options for leisurely walks, hiking along ancient paths, yoga and – of course – bouldering (free climbing without ropes). And it is only a short drive to two amazing beaches, celebrated Kolymbithra and undeveloped Livada, both ideal for swimming and sunbathing.

An intriguing example of modernist architecture, the award-winning house offers all the comforts of city living while retaining a harmonious connection with the surrounding natural beauty. Sensitively built among the boulders on the property, it has been lovingly designed for relaxed indoor/outdoor living, with hammocks, loungers and cushions for lazing in the sunshine, taking in dramatic sunsets, or stargazing beneath the clear night sky.
The house itself comprises three distinct volumes, each differing in height, dimensions and materials. Two sleeping quarters, each with their own private entrance and outdoor terraces, stand on either side of the shared living space.
The two-storey east wing has two double bedrooms, one on the upper level and one on the ground floor. The bathroom is on the lower level, attached to the bedroom. The upstairs bedroom provides access to the rooftop terrace with stunning views of the valley. The 75” Smart TV with Netflix also makes this bedroom perfect for movie nights. The west wing has one double bedroom with walk-in wardrobes and a bathroom, double-height ceiling, desk, and a private terrace with hammock.
All three bedrooms have comfortable, 160 x 200 cm beds. Both bathrooms are Cycladic-style with rainshower heads, custom marble sinks, plus finest quality Aegean Beauty toiletries, including body wash, shampoo and body cream made from Greek plants and herbs.
The centrally located living space features sliding glass doors which allow the flow of cool breezes through the interior and afford sweeping views of the beautiful valley. The inviting lounge, including a large wooden table that seats up to 8, opens onto an enchanting inner courtyard, protected from the wind, with a comfy sitting area and professional grade BBQ. While the spacious, fully equipped kitchen has everything an avid home cook could hope for, right down to the Swiss-made deli meat slicer!
